A LETTER FROM CHRIS

Colorado is a great place to live. Coloradans are living longer, healthier, and enriched lives. As of 2021, the median age in Jefferson County is 40.2. Of the total population, 49.21% were aged 30 to 64, 14.63% were 65 to 84, and 1.90% were 85 years of age and older.

Our community has a responsibility to ensure that older adults are taken care of and supported as they age. Creating age-friendly environments, ensuring access to resources and information, and funding community based services can help older adults age with dignity and receive the support they need to live fulfilling and healthy lives.

I urge you to take action now to advocate for funding and resources for senior services in your community. Contact your local government officials, join local advocacy groups, and raise awareness about the importance of supporting older adults as they age. Together, we can ensure that all individuals have the resources and support they need to age with dignity and independence. Let’s make sure that our communities are truly inclusive and supportive of all ages.

ADULT DAY PROGRAM

>>> EXPERIENCE THE DIFFERENCE

Getting out of the house and connecting with others is a vital part of a person’s well-being. All older adults deserve the chance to stay engaged and active as they age, no matter their ability. SRC’s Adult Day Program is designed to support older adults with dementia.

“A person living with dementia still needs meaning in their day,” says Tia Sauceda, Senior Director of Services. “Our program offers a safe place for older adults to meet new people and participate in activities they enjoy. They can flex their creative muscles with arts and crafts, get their blood flowing with gentle fitness designed for all ability levels, tend to our onsite garden when it’s warm out, and more. They’re also served lunch prepared by our chef, who works hard each day to craft delicious, nutritious meals.”

ADULT DAY CENTER

“What’s good about SRC is that our people care and want to contribute!

The team members here are able to diligently do their job, decompress when they leave, and then come back the next day with a whole new set of enthusiasm and an ability to do the job.”

The program isn’t just a resource for attendees. It can be stressful to leave the person you’re caring for in someone else’s care. SRC’s Adult Day Program gives a much-needed break ensuring home caregivers have the time and energy to run errands, complete chores or just relax.

>>> ADULT DAY WALKING CLUB

SRC strives to keep their programming relevant to their attendees’ needs and wants. Having noticed a number of attendees were used to being physically active they started a walking club. The walks allow participants to establish a routine and maintain a sense of independence. After all, growing older doesn’t mean you stop moving.

IN HOME CARE

>>> HELP AROUND YOUR HOME

Seniors Resource Center is all about people—those they serve, and those who provide that service. It takes a lot of trust to welcome a care provider into your home. That’s why SRC proudly hires compassionate, knowledgeable, and experienced care professionals for their In Home services team. SRC believes older adults and their families deserve the best support, and won’t settle for anything less.

SRC employees work tirelessly to support older adults, caregivers, and others in need, all with incredible professionalism, patience, and compassion. The work is not easy. SRC care professionals are encouraged to stay in close contact with their managers while working in the community and to reach out if they have questions or need support. No matter what happens while they’re on the job, SRC is there to make sure they have the support they need.

>>> CARING AND PROFESSIONAL

Many enter care work because they want to help others. SRC wants to support their employees to keep learning, growing, and developing as professionals. Monthly professional development days provide ongoing training and opportunities for staff to continue building their skills. SRC believes high quality services starts with caring for staff.

YOUR PARTNER IN AGING

>>>    INFORMATION & REFERRAL SERVICES

Whether you’re an older adult or a caregiver to one, coordinating care for yourself or someone else can be tough to do on your own. There are dozens of resources, programs, and organizations that support caregivers and older adults, but they aren’t always easy to find. Even if you know where to look, you still might not be sure what support is right for you or how to access it.

If you don’t know what support you need, don’t worry. SRC will work with you to determine the best ways they can support you. All you have to do is reach out.

>>>  CARE MANGEMENT

If you’re already enrolled in one of SRC’s services, please contact your Care Manager for one-on-one support. They can help you identify appropriate services and adjust as your needs change, help access assistance with food and energy bills, and help you enroll in any of SRC’s other services.
